Day 01: Arrival in Nairobi — Welcome & Rest

Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Rather than beginning the adventure immediately, the first day is intentionally slow, giving you time to recover from your journey, settle into your surroundings and ease gently into your Kenyan experience.

The remainder of the day is at leisure. You may choose to relax at the hotel, enjoy the facilities, or simply take time to rest. This gentle beginning sets the tone for the journey ahead — travelling with intention, allowing yourself time to breathe, and enjoying the destination without rushing.

Day 02: Nairobi — Conservation, Wildlife & Local Craft

After breakfast, begin your Nairobi experience with a visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where you will learn about elephant rescue, rehabilitation and conservation. The experience offers a deeper understanding of the challenges facing orphaned elephants and the work being done to give them a second chance in the wild.

Continue to the Giraffe Centre, home to the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. Here, you will learn about giraffe conservation and have an opportunity to observe these remarkable animals up close.

Later, visit Kazuri Beads, a Kenyan social enterprise renowned for its handmade beads, pottery and crafts. Beyond shopping, the visit provides an opportunity to appreciate local craftsmanship and learn about the social impact created through employment and skills development.

Return to your hotel later in the day and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Day 03:Nairobi to Samburu — Journey into Northern Kenya

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and begin your journey north towards Samburu. As you travel, the landscape gradually changes from the greener central highlands to the dramatic, arid scenery of northern Kenya.

Upon arrival in Samburu, check in to your lodge or camp and take time to settle into your surroundings. No major activities are planned for the remainder of the day, allowing you to rest after the journey and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this beautiful region.

Take the evening slowly, perhaps enjoying the views, sounds and stillness of the wilderness before dinner.

Day 04: Samburu — Morning & Evening Wildlife Experiences

Wake early for your first wildlife experience in Samburu. Set out on a morning game drive while the temperatures are cooler and wildlife is active. Explore the distinctive Samburu ecosystem and look out for some of northern Kenya’s special wildlife, including the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich.

Return to your lodge or camp for breakfast and a relaxed midday break. Enjoy lunch and take time to rest during the warmer hours.

Later in the afternoon, head out for a second game drive. As the sun begins to soften, the landscape takes on a completely different character, creating beautiful opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.

Return to camp for dinner and a peaceful evening.

Day 05: Samburu — Reteti Elephant Sanctuary & Samburu Culture

Today takes you beyond traditional safari experiences and into the heart of conservation and community.

Visit Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a community-owned elephant sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, caring for and rehabilitating orphaned elephants. Learn about the sanctuary’s conservation work and, importantly, the role that the local Samburu community plays in protecting wildlife.

Later, visit a Samburu village for a respectful cultural experience. Spend time learning about traditional ways of life, community structures, livelihoods, crafts and the relationship between the Samburu people and their environment.

The experience is designed around cultural exchange and understanding rather than simply observing from a distance. Return to your accommodation later in the day for a relaxed evening.

Day 06: Samburu to Ol Pejeta Conservancy — From Northern Wilderness to Conservation Country

After breakfast, depart Samburu and journey towards Ol Pejeta Conservancy, enjoying the changing landscapes along the way.

Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and settle into the peaceful surroundings of the conservancy. The rest of the day is intentionally kept light, giving you time to rest after the journey, enjoy your lodge or camp, and prepare for the wildlife experiences ahead.

Rather than filling every hour with activities, this afternoon allows you to simply be present — a key part of the slow travel experience.

Day 07: Ol Pejeta — Wildlife & Conservation

Start the morning with an early game drive through Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The conservancy is renowned for its wildlife and pioneering conservation work. As you explore the landscape, look out for rhinos, elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes and other wildlife.

Return to your accommodation for breakfast and a relaxed midday break. Enjoy lunch and take time to rest before heading out again in the afternoon.

Your evening game drive provides another opportunity to explore the conservancy as the temperatures cool and wildlife becomes more active. Enjoy the changing light across the landscape before returning for dinner.

Day 08: Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru — Into the Great Rift Valley

After breakfast, depart Ol Pejeta and continue towards Lake Nakuru National Park, travelling through the scenic landscapes of Kenya’s central region and into the Great Rift Valley.

Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and take time to relax. After several days of wildlife experiences, the afternoon is deliberately left open for rest and enjoying your surroundings.

This slower pace gives you an opportunity to recharge before exploring Lake Nakuru more extensively the following day.

Day 09:Lake Nakuru — Morning & Evening Game Drives

Rise early for a morning game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park. Explore the park’s diverse habitats and look out for rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, leopards and a variety of birdlife.

Return to your accommodation for breakfast and enjoy a relaxed midday period. You can rest, enjoy lunch and take in the surroundings before heading out again later in the afternoon.

The evening game drive offers a different perspective of the park as the afternoon light softens and wildlife becomes more active. Return to the lodge or camp for dinner and a peaceful evening.

Day 10: Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara — Journey to the Great Plains

After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru and travel towards the iconic Maasai Mara. The journey takes you through the countryside and into one of Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife regions.

Upon arrival, check in and settle into your accommodation. Rather than immediately beginning an intensive safari, the afternoon is reserved for rest. Take time to enjoy the property, the surrounding wilderness and the feeling of finally arriving in the Mara.

As evening falls, enjoy dinner and prepare for the days of exploration ahead.

Day 11: Maasai Mara — Morning & Evening Game Drives

Begin your Mara experience with an early morning game drive across the expansive plains. The early hours offer some of the best conditions for wildlife viewing as the landscape comes alive.

Depending on the season, you may encounter large herds of wildebeest and zebra, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, cheetahs and other wildlife. During the migration season, the Mara can also provide opportunities to witness one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles.

Return to camp for breakfast and a relaxed midday break. Later in the afternoon, head out for an evening game drive, taking your time to observe wildlife and appreciate the landscape rather than rushing between sightings.

Day 12: Maasai Mara — Slow Morning, Nature Walk & Cultural Connection

Today is intentionally slower.

Enjoy a relaxed morning at your lodge or camp. Sleep in, enjoy breakfast at your own pace, read, take photographs, or simply sit quietly and absorb the sounds and scenery of the Mara.

Later, head out on a guided nature walk, experiencing the ecosystem from a completely different perspective. Walking allows you to notice the smaller details — tracks, plants, insects, birds and the intricate connections within the ecosystem that can easily be missed from a safari vehicle.

In the afternoon, visit a Maasai village for a meaningful cultural experience. Learn about traditional lifestyles, customs, livelihoods, crafts and the relationship between the Maasai community and the land.

Return to camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Day 13: Maasai Mara — Sunrise, Wilderness & Bush Dinner

Wake before sunrise for a choice between an early morning game drive or an optional hot-air balloon safari.

The game drive provides an intimate opportunity to experience the Mara as the sun rises and wildlife begins its day. Alternatively, the hot-air balloon experience offers a completely different perspective, floating quietly above the plains as the landscape slowly comes to life.

Return to camp for breakfast and enjoy a relaxed period during the middle of the day.

Later in the afternoon, head out for your final evening game drive in the Mara. Take time to enjoy the landscape, wildlife and golden light before returning to camp.

End the day with a memorable bush dinner under the African sky, surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness. This is more than simply a meal — it is a moment to pause and appreciate the journey, the places you have visited and the experiences shared along the way.

Day 14: Maasai Mara to Naivasha — From Savannah to the Rift Valley

After breakfast, depart the Maasai Mara and travel towards Lake Naivasha, continuing through the beautiful landscapes of the Great Rift Valley.

Upon arrival, check in to your accommodation and take time to rest. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Naivasha, relax by the property, or simply recover after the journey.

After the intensity of the Mara, the slower pace of Naivasha provides a refreshing transition into the final chapter of the journey.

Day 15: Naivasha — Adventure, Lake & Walking Safari

After breakfast, enjoy a day of nature and adventure around Naivasha.

At Hell’s Gate National Park, choose between a scenic cycling experience through the park or a hike at Mount Longonot, depending on your preferred activity level and available time.

Later, enjoy a peaceful boat ride on Lake Naivasha, taking in the lake’s beautiful scenery and observing birdlife and wildlife along the shores.

Continue to Crescent Island for a guided walking safari. This unique experience allows you to explore the landscape on foot among wildlife, offering a more intimate connection with nature and a different perspective from the traditional safari vehicle.

Return to your accommodation after the day’s activities and enjoy a relaxed final evening in Naivasha.

Day 16: Naivasha to Nairobi — A Slow Farewell

Enjoy a final slow morning in Naivasha. Take your breakfast at an unhurried pace, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and reflect on the experiences of the journey.

Later, depart Naivasha and travel back to Nairobi for your onward flight home. Depending on your flight schedule, there may be time for a final meal or short stop in Nairobi before your airport transfer.

As the journey comes to an end, leave Kenya carrying more than memories of wildlife. Take with you the stories of conservation, the warmth of local communities, the beauty of Kenya’s landscapes and the quiet moments that made the journey meaningful.
