An Immersive Slow Safari Through Maasai Mara, Naivasha & Amboseli....
Book / ViewExperience Kenya at a slower, more meaningful pace, allowing time to connect with each destination rather than rushing from one attraction to another. This journey combines iconic wildlife reserves, scenic landscapes, conservation areas, local culture, and moments of rest. Each destination is given enough time to be enjoyed without feeling hurried, with afternoons intentionally allowing space to relax, enjoy the lodge surroundings, or simply take in the beauty of Kenya.
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, where you will be warmly welcomed by your representative and transferred to your accommodation. After the journey, there is no rush to begin sightseeing. The first day is intentionally kept light, allowing you to settle into Kenya, recover from your travels, and adjust comfortably to the new surroundings. Once checked in, spend the rest of the day relaxing at your accommodation, enjoying the facilities, or simply resting after your flight. This gentle beginning sets the tone for the journey ahead: travelling slowly, with enough space to pause and enjoy each experience.
After breakfast, depart Nairobi and begin your journey toward the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes you through changing landscapes, from the urban environment of Nairobi into the countryside and eventually toward the expansive savannahs of the Mara region. Rather than rushing into activities upon arrival, the afternoon is reserved for settling in and resting. After checking into your lodge or tented camp, enjoy lunch and take time to appreciate the surrounding wilderness. You may relax at the property, enjoy the views, or simply unwind after the drive. The goal is to arrive gently and allow yourself to become immersed in the rhythm of the Mara before beginning your wildlife experiences the following day.
Wake up to the sounds of the African wilderness and enjoy an early morning game drive through the Masai Mara. The cooler morning hours offer excellent opportunities to observe wildlife as predators return from their nighttime activities and herbivores begin moving across the plains. Keep an eye out for lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, cheetahs, and other wildlife that make the Mara their home. Return to the lodge for breakfast and spend the late morning relaxing. After lunch, enjoy a slow afternoon at your accommodation, giving you time to rest, read, enjoy the surroundings, or simply appreciate the peaceful atmosphere of the reserve. Later in the afternoon, head out for a second game drive as the savannah becomes cooler and wildlife becomes active again before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Begin the day with an early morning game drive, exploring another part of the Masai Mara and taking advantage of the beautiful morning light and active wildlife. Your guide will help you understand the ecosystem, animal behaviour, and the delicate relationship between wildlife and the surrounding communities. Return to the lodge for breakfast and enjoy a relaxed late morning. After lunch and some time to rest, visit a Maasai village in the afternoon for a meaningful cultural experience. Learn about traditional Maasai lifestyles, customs, family structures, livelihoods, crafts, and the community's relationship with the land and wildlife. This experience provides an opportunity to go beyond wildlife viewing and connect with the people who have lived alongside this ecosystem for generations. Return to your accommodation for a relaxed evening.
After breakfast, depart the Masai Mara and travel toward Lake Naivasha in Kenya's Great Rift Valley. The journey provides an opportunity to observe the changing scenery as the open savannah gradually gives way to the landscapes of the Rift Valley. Upon arrival at Lake Naivasha, check into your accommodation and enjoy lunch. The remainder of the day is deliberately kept free of scheduled activities. After several days of wildlife exploration, this is a chance to slow down, rest, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere around the lake. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your lodge or resort, enjoying the gardens, views, or facilities before dinner.
After breakfast, head to Hell's Gate National Park for a nature-focused experience within one of the Rift Valley's most dramatic landscapes. The park is known for its towering cliffs, gorges, geothermal features, and striking scenery. Explore the park at a relaxed pace before continuing to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride across the freshwater lake. As you cruise across the water, look out for hippos resting near the shoreline and a variety of bird species, including fish eagles. Continue to Crescent Island for a guided nature experience where you can observe wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and antelopes in an open setting. After the day's activities, return to your accommodation and enjoy a relaxed evening by the lake.
After breakfast, depart with a packed lunch for a full-day excursion to Lake Nakuru National Park. The park offers a beautiful combination of lake landscapes, woodland, open grasslands, and rocky escarpments. Enjoy a game drive through the park in search of rhinos, Rothschild's giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, zebras, and other wildlife. The park is also renowned for its birdlife and the scenic beauty surrounding Lake Nakuru. Enjoy your packed lunch during the day while taking in the natural surroundings rather than returning to a lodge for a midday meal. Continue exploring the park before beginning the journey back to Lake Naivasha in the late afternoon. Return to your accommodation and enjoy a quiet evening and a well-earned rest.
After breakfast, check out and begin the journey from Lake Naivasha toward Amboseli National Park. This is another scenic transition between very different Kenyan landscapes, taking you from the Great Rift Valley toward the dry plains of southern Kenya. Upon arrival in Amboseli, check into your lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. The afternoon is intentionally left free for relaxation after the long journey. Take time to settle into your accommodation, enjoy the surrounding landscape, and, weather permitting, admire views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Rather than immediately beginning a game drive, the slow-travel approach allows you to arrive, breathe, and appreciate the destination before exploring it.
Begin the morning with an early game drive through Amboseli National Park. The park is particularly famous for its large elephant herds, many of which can be seen moving across the open plains with Mount Kilimanjaro rising dramatically in the background on clear days. Explore the park's wetlands, grasslands, and woodland areas while looking for elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and a wide variety of birdlife. Return to your accommodation for breakfast and enjoy a relaxed late morning. After lunch, take time to rest and enjoy the lodge surroundings. Later in the afternoon, head out for an evening game drive as temperatures begin to cool and wildlife becomes more active. Return to your accommodation after sunset for dinner and a peaceful evening.
After breakfast, depart Amboseli and travel toward Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and most iconic wilderness areas. As you journey south, the landscape gradually changes from the open plains of Amboseli into Tsavo’s distinctive red-earth terrain, rugged bushland, and vast wilderness. Upon arrival, check into your lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. The afternoon is intentionally left free for rest and relaxation, allowing you to settle into your new surroundings without rushing into activities. Later in the evening, head out for a game drive through Tsavo East as the temperatures cool and wildlife becomes more active. Keep watch for the park’s famous red elephants, as well as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and other wildlife. Return to your accommodation for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Begin the day with an early morning game drive through Tsavo East National Park, taking advantage of the cool morning temperatures and the time when wildlife is most active. Explore the park’s vast savannahs, bushland, seasonal rivers, and famous red-earth landscapes while searching for elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and diverse birdlife. Tsavo East is particularly renowned for its large herds of red-dusted elephants, offering memorable opportunities to observe these magnificent animals in their natural environment.
Return to your accommodation for breakfast and enjoy a relaxed late morning. After lunch, take some time to rest before heading out again for an afternoon game drive in Tsavo West Continue exploring the park at a leisurely pace, following the wildlife activity as the temperatures begin to cool. The afternoon drive provides another opportunity to encounter animals and appreciate the vastness and tranquillity of the Tsavo ecosystem before returning to the lodge in the evening.
The day follows the slow-travel philosophy by allowing time for both meaningful wildlife encounters and moments of rest, rather than rushing between activities.
After breakfast, check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi. As you leave Tsavo East behind, enjoy the changing scenery and reflect on the experiences of your slow Kenyan journey, from the wildlife-rich plains of the Masai Mara and the peaceful landscapes of Lake Naivasha to the spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli and the vast red-earth wilderness of Tsavo East.
Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to your preferred drop-off point or to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, depending on your onward travel arrangements.
