Day 01: Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive north across the equator to the rugged and semi-arid lands of Samburu National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch at your safari lodge or tented camp. In the afternoon, set out for your first game drive to spot rare northern species like the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and Oryx collectively known as the “Samburu Special Five.”
Day 02: Full Day in Samburu National Reserve
Enjoy a full day of wildlife viewing with both morning and afternoon game drives. Watch elephants gather at the Ewaso Nyiro River and keep an eye out for big cats like lions and leopards. In between drives, visit a nearby Samburu village to learn about their nomadic lifestyle, traditional dances, and colorful attire. This cultural encounter offers a deeper appreciation for Kenya’s rich heritage.
Day 03: Samburu to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After breakfast, depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, nestled at the foothills of Mount Kenya. This pioneering conservation area is home to the Big Five, endangered black rhinos, and the last two northern white rhinos on earth. Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see rescued chimps. Enjoy an afternoon game drive and perhaps a night drive for a unique nocturnal safari experience.
Day 04: Ol Pejeta to Mount Kenya
Leave Ol Pejeta after breakfast and drive to Mount Kenya region, arriving near the forested slopes of Kenya’s highest mountain. Settle into your lodge or eco-retreat and enjoy the fresh air. Take a guided forest walk to spot colobus monkeys and rare birdlife, or simply relax with views of Mount Kenya’s snow-capped peaks. Optional add-ons include a meditation session or local farm visit.
Day 05: Mount Kenya to Aberdare National Park
This morning, journey to the Aberdare National Park, known for its cool highland climate, dense forests, and dramatic waterfalls. After lunch, head out for a game drive or nature walk where you might see elephants, buffalo, and the elusive bongo antelope. In the evening, enjoy wildlife viewing from your lodge’s raised decks overlooking salt licks or waterholes.
Day 06: Aberdare to Nairobi
