Book / ViewA 3-day itinerary to Tsavo National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and most iconic wildlife reserves, promises an unforgettable safari experience filled with breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich history.
Arrive in the morning at Tsavo West National Park, either via road from Nairobi (approximately 4-5 hours) or by flight to the nearby Kilaguni Airstrip. After check-in at your booked lodge/camp. Enjoy a welcome refreshment before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Explore the stunning Mzima Springs, a crystal-clear oasis fed by underground rivers from Mount Kilimanjaro, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, and fish through an underwater viewing chamber. Drive through the volcanic landscapes of the Shetani Lava Flows, learning about their fascinating geological history.Later return to your booked camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.
Rise early for a sunrise game drive, the best time to spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Traverse the park’s diverse terrain, from open savannahs to rocky ridges, encountering elephants, zebras, giraffes, and buffalo. After a hearty breakfast back at the lodge, venture towards the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, a protected area within Tsavo West dedicated to the conservation of the critically endangered black rhino. Spend the afternoon at the scenic Chyulu Hills, where rolling green landscapes contrast dramatically with the red earth of Tsavo. Stop for a picnic lunch at a designated viewing point before continuing your exploration, keeping an eye out for rare species such as the African wild dog. Return to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, transfer to Tsavo East National Park, known for its vast open plains and iconic red-dusted elephants. Embark on a final game drive through this wildlife-rich region, visiting highlights such as the Aruba Dam, a popular watering hole attracting large herds of animals. Stop by the Lugard Falls, where the Galana River cascades over rugged rock formations, creating a dramatic landscape. Afterwards begin your journey back to Nairobi.
